Join us in creating pathways to education, empowerment, and legal support for a stronger, more inclusive community
CMLC mission: Growing justice and belonging cross-culturally with international, immigrant, refugee, and intersecting communities.
In the past year (July 2023 - June 2024), the Corvallis Multicultural Literacy Center (CMLC) has made a remarkable impact on our community:
- 267 students enrolled in English classes of all levels, along with other programs like art and children’s classes. These students, coming from 43 countries, united to learn a new language and adapt to their new environment.
- Outside of class, we hosted two "How to Get a Job in the USA" workshops, guiding participants in resume and cover letter writing and interview skills for the U.S. job market.
- With the help of our citizenship tutoring program, 10 participants proudly gained their U.S. citizenship this year, while 30 more received information and study materials to support their future applications.
- 195 community members received legal support through free 30-minute consultations with experienced immigration lawyers.
Learning English, finding employment, or achieving citizenship can be transformative for individuals and their families, providing greater opportunities and deepening their integration into the community. With a sliding-scale fee structure, we ensure that our programs remain accessible to all.
Your donations are vital to sustaining these efforts, allowing us to continue making a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals and families and enriching our community.
